healthy summer snacks for kids

Summer is coming up, which means your kids are going to be home all day long begging you for snacks. I get it. They're hopefully running around outside working up an appetite and need to refuel before they get back out there.

You could stock up on packaged snacks from the grocery store, but that gets expensive, and often contains questionable ingredients. Instead, consider spending an hour in the kitchen along with your kids preparing a snack that's at least somewhat healthy, delicious, and filling.

I've rounded up 16 refreshing summer options for healthy snacks you can make at home with your kids and enjoy in the warm weather!

Cookies & Bars

We love - LOVE - cookies in this house. The only problem is, when I make them, we can't help but eat them by the handful. I've been on the lookout for healthier cookie and dessert options, so we can all enjoy them to our heart's content.

Ice Pops

Ah, ice pops. The quintessential summer treat. I love that you can pack fruits and vegetables into these delightful snacks and the kids still think they're getting away with having ice cream every day. We just make sure to eat our outside - these sure can get messy!

Protein

We love protein! It keeps us nice and full and fuels our bodies for long days of playing outside. My kids do drink high-protein shakes for breakfast every morning, but I love to mix it up, too!
