lewis's first year

Lewis William.

You are one today! How has it been a year already?

Your birth was so easy, laid back, fun. We were all so excited to meet you...that is, once Pippa got over her disappointment that you were a boy. From the moment we brought you home, your big brother and sister smothered you with affection, hugs, and kisses.

It was a full and exciting month with fresh starts, fun day trips, and lots of snuggles. There were a few rough moments, like sickness, a canceled trip to Phoenix for Lewis and me, and a day or two where I was feeling really down about my core and back pain. Overall, though, I think I can count this as a wonderful start to 2018. My word of the year is FUN, so I'm continuing to focus on finding the playful and joyful side of work, family, and downtime. It was a full and exciting month with fresh starts, fun day trips, and lots of snuggles. Pipisms - things my 4-year-old says

Oh, you guys. We are so blessed to have a chatterbox for our first child. This sweet girl could talk your ear off, and never even notice that your eyes glazed over 10 minutes ago. She's precocious and gregarious -  a deadly and hilarious combination in a 4 year old. Pippa has never met a stranger, and we love her for it.

theodore's second birthday

Theodore Scott

You are two years old! In some ways it feels like you've been two for so long. You're big in stature, big in personality, and now a big brother! I wrote in your first birthday post that you light up every room you enter. That holds true today! There is something about your curly blond hair and your goofy grin that attracts attention wherever we go. At the grocery store, Target, TJ Maxx, the beach, or the library, people stop us just to tell us how cute you are. You've got that je ne sais quoi!

some tuesday thoughts

On Sunday evening we rolled back into town after two weeks of vacation in Wisconsin with our families. The usual 18 hour drive from Florida to Wisconsin ended up taking closer to 22 hours both ways. We always drive through the night when we make that trip, but this time we had to pull over at rest stops a few times to get some sleep. It might have something to do with having a newborn in the house...

lewis's birth story

From the second or third doctor's appointment I had after finding out I was pregnant with Lewis, my doctor and I agreed that it would make the most sense to schedule a C-section at 39 weeks. To recap, I had a scheduled C-section with Pippa because she was breech, and I desperately wanted to try a VBAC with Teddy, but due to his size, and moving across the country at 36 weeks pregnant, we ended up going with another scheduled C-section at 40 weeks + 4 days.

our weekend + lewis's baptism

This past weekend was an absolute whirlwind of fun, family time, and baby snuggles. With both sets of grandparents in town, plus a few siblings, we had plenty of extra hands to help out with our newest addition and keep the older kids busy. It also helped us to get out of the house and head down to the beach a few times. Recovering from a C-section is tough, but it was so good for my mindset to get out in the fresh air.

introducing lewis william

I'm working on Lewis's birth story, but really, the entire procedure from start to finish was perfectly uneventful. Lewis and I were only in the hospital for two nights, despite the fact that I was recovering from a C-section. That really is a testament to how well the birth and recovery for both mama and baby is going so far!

philippa's third birthday

Happy Third Birthday, Phillipa Florence! It's been a crazy year of changes for you. Shortly after turning 2 you moved from Minnesota to Florida and got a baby brother! You started school for the first time, moved to a big girl bed, got potty trained, and moved to yet another house. You handled it all so well, like I knew you would. Sure, there were tantrums and tears, but we knew we'd figure it out together. You always keep us laughing with your big words, jokes, silly songs, and funny faces.
