Review of Eagle Creek Pack-It™ Line of Packing Cubes

TESTING OUT EAGLE CREEK’S BRAND NEW PACK-IT™ LINE OF PACKING SOLUTIONS

The goal of my blog has always been to make travel easier and more attainable for the average parent. It’s not just a fancy-sounding mission statement. As we’ve added more kids to our family, I’ve realized that family travel isn’t always as easy as, “just get out there and do it!” The more kids you have the more gear you need and the more stressful travel can become.

If I can help make any part of the travel process easier, like trip planning, packing, or dealing with a toddler on a long trip, I’ll have done my job. I want families out there making memories and seeing more of our big beautiful world.

That’s why I’m so happy to partner with Eagle Creek to test out Pack-It™, their newest line of packing cubes and travel organization solutions. Eagle Creek’s mission is to connect more people with the wonders of the world by taking the stress out of packing. That’s a pursuit I can get on board with!

I’m going to share the innovative new solutions for organized packing, how I plan to use these cubes for upcoming travel with kids, and which are my favorite!

THE PACK-IT™ LINE - THE BEST PACKING CUBES!

The new Pack-It™ Line is an upgrade to the original line that was created in 1996. The product designers at Eagle Creek have just taken it to the next level!

There are all kinds of innovative packing solutions in this version of Pack-It™ making it easier than ever to organize your bags for your next trip.

As a mom of 4 and frequent traveler, I’m simply smitten with this product line. Some of these items provided solutions to problems I didn’t even realize I had, while others solved problems that have frustrated me for years.

There are 3 categories: Isolate, Gear, and Reveal.

  • Isolate is made with anti-microbial and translucent material to keep bad smells separate from the rest of your luggage.

  • Gear is made with durable material to protect your belongings.

  • Reveal provides easy visibility so you can see what’s in each bag.

Each item serves a unique purpose! The one thing they all have in common, though, is that they’re made with recycled materials and come with a No Matter What lifetime guarantee to keep broken bags out of landfills and customers happy.

I received just a few items to test out from each of the categories, so I’ll share what they are and how to use them below. Of course, you can find more products on the Eagle Creek website.

Pack-It™ ISOLATE LINE

The Isolate line of cubes and organizers comes with antimicrobial fabric to prevent funky smells from microbial growth.

In other words, if you’ve ever had wet, sweaty, or gross-smelling clothes make your entire suitcase smell awful (as anyone with kids has experienced), these are the perfect solution.

PACK-IT™ COMPRESSION CUBES

I’m no stranger to packing cubes. I’ve long used them to organize our bags by day or by family member to make getting ready for the day with 4 little kids on vacation much easier.

Since organization has been my primary focus, I’ve never actually tried a compression packing cube to save space in our bags.

These compression cubes have been a game-changer for me!

It’s hard to overstate how impressed I am with the compression capabilities of these cubes. I tested them out by taking 7 t-shirts for my 3-year-old and putting them into the smallest compression cube. Normally I use the accordion fold, but I figured the compression would work better if I rolled the shirts or folded them flat.

I rolled all 7 shirts and placed them in the cube, then closed the expanding zipper. See for yourself how much smaller the cube got!

Not only are the cubes super lightweight, but they take up such a small amount of space when compressed. These are absolutely perfect for parents that share a suitcase with one or more of their kids, or who pack multiple kids into one suitcase.

Also perfect for families looking to fly carry-on only as we often do!

PACK-IT™ ISOLATE ROLL-TOP SHOE SAC

fullsizeoutput_6ae9.jpeg

I’ve never used anything to contain my shoes within my suitcase before, but as our family begins to add more outdoor activities to our travel itineraries, I’m realizing how useful this will be!

We’ve got some trips coming up where I’ll certainly be hiking on dusty and dirty trails, and this roll-top bag will be nice for keeping my hiking shoes separate from everything else while also containing the smell. No one wants their clothes to smell like feet!

(In a pinch I think this bag would be awesome for soiled clothes since anyone with a baby or toddler knows that accidents are bound to happen).

PACK-IT™ GEAR

PACK-IT™ GEAR PROTECT IT (SIZE SMALL)

gear packing cube.jpg

I have been searching for something like the Protect It Cube for YEARS. Even before I was working as a travel writer, I loved to bring my DSLR camera with me whenever I traveled because I enjoyed photography as a hobby.

The problem was, I didn’t have a great solution for keeping my camera equipment protected without taking too much space.

The Protect It cube has a hard outer shell, and the inside has adjustable dividers and padding to keep your electronics, camera gear, or binoculars safe.

I could easily fit this cube in the bottom of my carry-on and not worry about it getting crushed.

The small fit my DSLR camera, my point-and-shoot camera, and my GoPro.

PACK-IT™ GEAR QUICK TRIP

This is another packing cube with a structured shell, and it’s perfectly shaped to hold hairbrushes, hair products, or other long bottles, toothbrushes, toothpaste, and other sundry toiletry items.

It’s water-resistant, so I would feel comfortable packing this in my suitcase with all my clothes, even if there happened to be a shampoo explosion or similar toiletry disaster. In addition, its lay-flat design and large opening make it easier to see everything inside.

I’m not sure I would bring this in addition to a larger toiletry bag, but I could see this being perfect for a quick overnight trip where I don’t need to bring everything with me.

And actually, now that I think about it, I could see using this for my kids’ toiletries since they don’t typically require as many individual items. Toothbrush, toothpaste, brush, and comb. Perfect.

It does come with 2 interior mesh pockets that would work for ponytail holders, bows for little girls, jewelry, or other small things you want to keep contained.

PACK-IT™ GEAR POUCH (SIZE MEDIUM)

The Pack-It™ Gear Pouch is another water-resistant item. It’s flat with one zipper at the top. I think this would work well for small items you’ll need to throw into a larger bag like sunscreen, chapstick, a flashlight, or even a few diapers and wipes.

I could see using this on a hike with kids. It would fit perfectly inside my backpack, keeping it organized, but it also has a snap hook and webbing loops to hook onto the outside of the bag for easier access.

Another idea that comes to mind for this pouch is using it as an airplane kit. Because it’s flat, it would be easy to tuck into a seatback pouch so you have easy access to everything you need during the flight. This is especially important for parents of babies and toddlers. If you have a little one fall asleep in your arms, the last thing you want to do is try to reach under the seat to get your headphones or a snack out of your backpack. This way, everything would be within arms reach for those moments you need to keep still.

MINI CUBES

These adorable mini packing cubes are just what I need for those odds and ends. Cords, chargers, and headphones were the first thing that came to my mind, but I can also see using these for jewelry, my FitBit watch, or corraling lip balm, hand sanitizer, and mints.

PACK-IT™ REVEAL

The Pack-It™ Reveal Set is lightweight and breathable and has see-through mesh so you can view the contents of each packing cube.

PACK-IT™ REVEAL CUBE SET

The Pack-It™ Reveal cube set has a large mesh window so you can view the contents, but it also has a back compartment so you can fit even more. I got to try the size small, which would be perfect for underwear, socks, tank tops, or accessories.

It’s nice to have 2 separate compartments to keep everything neat and organized! The mesh is perfect for seeing at a glance what you’ve packed in each cube.

This line also contains a laundry sac that folds up into a tiny pouch, making it convenient to separate your clean and dirty clothes as your trip goes on.

PACK-IT™ REVEAL HANGING TOILETRY KIT

I like that this toiletry bag can either lay flat or hang. As a mom of 4, counter space in a hotel room bathroom is at a premium, so I like being able to hang my bag when needed.

There are 3 stretchy pockets to hold travel-size products, and a spacious zipper pocket at the bottom that I thought was the perfect size for holding makeup or hair products.

SOMETHING FOR EVERYONE!

No matter what kind of travel you enjoy, the new line of Eagle Creek packing cubes has something to help you stay more organized, and therefore a happier and more relaxed traveler.
